Yes Virginia, there will be a HIghlander Anime
I'm really late on this one, but while trolling about I found that there will be a new Highlander-based anime coming out this May. It's even directed by famed Ninja Scroll director Yoshiaki Kawajiri. The Highlander series has had its ups and downs, but an anime version still intrigues me.

Interview with the man behind the Afro Samurai series
UGO has a nice interview with the exec that brought Afro Samurai to the small screen. Eric Calderon used to be a MTV animation executive. Now he has the lofty title of Vice-President of Creative Affairs for GDH International, which owns a little studio that you may have heard of called Gonzo. The...

First free weekly manga in Japan
There is a new, FREE, weekly-manga magazine being released in Japan this week. It will be distributed by hand at train stations. I actually think this is a good idea, and one that I would also like to see in the states. Imagine free manga available at NYC subway stations or BART and Caltrain

Air Gear Musical?
I was trolling around the web as usual when I stumbled upon a forum post that mentioned a Japanese musical based on Air Gear, the popular manga and anime by Oh Great! After a little research I confirmed this to be true. Does anyone else find this a little..strange?

Time for a hentai post
I haven't been doing a lot of posting recently since I've been swamped with work. To make up for it, I figure I'll give a little to love my somewhat neglected hentai section.

Wacom targets manga creators
It seems there is a trend of companies looking to cash in on the growing popularity of manga. In particular, I've seen a lot of firms start targetting the aspiring manga artists. It didn't really surprise me much when I saw that Wacom, creators of those nifty drawing tablets for pcs and macs,

Japan's Favorite Anime
TV Asahi has posted their annual list of Japan's favorite Anime series. It's always interesting to see what's hot in Japan, as it often reflects the cultural differences between the West and Japan. Still, one thing is clear: the Elric Brothers are popular with anime fans no matter where you

Miyazaki's son gets in the business
Recently there's been a lot of buzz about Hayao Miyazaki's oldest son, Goro. He's following in his father's footsteps, with his work Gedo Senki. But it seems that the elder Miyazaki and his son are in a bit of a feud when it comes to their art.

Samurai 7 left me disappointed
I've been watching Samurai 7 on IFC for some time. They aired the last episode last night. Now that it's all over, I have to say that I was fairly disappointed in it. I was expecting something with Akira Kurosawa's name attached to it to be much morewhat's the word I'm looking

I'm sure many of you have played the Devil May Cry series of action games. Devil May Cry will once again be sporting its demon-slaying, gun-toting, sword-swinging goodness on TV screens - but this time it will take the form of Anime.

Death Note artist arrested
I haven't seen a lot of people write about this one, but apparently Death Note and Hikaru no Go artist Takeshi Obata was arrested in Japan a few day ago. The charge? Illegal possesion of a knife. Japan has some fairly nasty anti-weaponry laws, Obata-san may be in for quite a lot of trouble.MSN
